Aagas

05 | 2006

Aagas was developed for C6's Stories in Motion performance of the Brighton Festival 2006. The software follows audio changes and creates a nebulous gas of ASCII characters that rapidly evolves and disperses as it responds to the music.

The show was featuring Irvine Welsh, the author of Trainspotting, Fight Club writer Chuck Palahniuk and Phil Hartnoll of Longrange.

Writers performed their works accompanied by bespoke soundscapes and tracks from Longrange's forthcoming album. Home grown art subversives C6.org created a live link between the writers and musicians by warping text and visuals in real time. They provided themed visuals that interpreted texts and accompanied music with live ASCII video feeds, ASCII animations and generative software.
